Wype
How is it an example of design for sustainable behaviour?
Wet wipes are commonly used to achieve a cleaner feel than using just toilet roll alone. Wet wipes are made from materials such as polyester, polypropylene, cotton and wood pulp which take a long time to degrade and shed microplastics. Consumer behaviour is to flush wet wipes down the toilet after use also causing blockages within the sewage system.
Wype is designed to replace the need for wet wipes by combining a cleaning gel dispenser to apply onto toilet roll. Creating a flushable, degradable alternative.
What else is Wype doing?
Wype is also an example of creating re-usable packaging. The customer can purchase refills in aluminium bottles. Aluminium as a material can be infinitely recycled, prolonging material reuse and lifespan.
